Welcome to our twenty-first blog post! As we celebrate ten years of the winery, we're looking back at how things have changed, how they've stayed the same, and the memories made along the way.
It’s been a decade since Liquid Art Winery first opened its doors, so we wanted to take a look back over the years and reminisce on ten years well spent at the winery! Over the years, we’ve welcomed the Manhattan community and beyond into the winery to experience what Kansas-made wines and craft hard ciders have to offer. Set in the picturesque Flint Hills, Liquid Art was born out of a dream to share the beauty of Kansas viticulture, and we’re thankful to each and every guest along the way who has shared in the experience!

What's Changed
If you’ve been a guest at the winery over the last ten years, you may have noticed a few changes that have popped up in the Tasting Room, our restaurant menu, or the Estate property itself. We’re always striving to meet the needs of all of our guests, with menu expansions such as adding non-alcoholic options (including slushies!) and incorporating gluten-free and dairy-free food options. Years ago, our food menu started out with “adult lunchables,” and we’ve since grown into a full restaurant, with flatbreads crafted in-house, a variety of charcuteries, and our small plates Barrel Room menu.

Beyond the changes in our Tasting Room restaurant menu, our physical space at the Estate has also morphed into the lush vineyards and considerable production space that you see today. Since the winery opened ten years ago, we’ve expanded the physical winery production space, added eight acres of vineyard, constructed the Amphitheater stage that houses our summer concert series, and renovated the Barrel Room into a private event space that is home to intimate gatherings and various winery-hosted events.
What's Stayed the Same
As we’ve changed and expanded over the years, there are a few core principles that have stayed the same at Liquid Art. We value our dedication to hospitality; creating memorable experiences for guests of the winery is our ultimate goal. We strive to make every memory at the winery a lasting one, from large public events that draw substantial crowds to our day-to-day more intimate moments in the Tasting Room.
Kansas tourism and viticulture education have also been at the heart of Liquid Art Winery for the last ten years. All of the grapes that we use to make Liquid Art wine are grown here in Kansas. When deciding to start the winery ten years ago, Danielle and David Tegtmeier, the founders, recognized the similarities between the soil and topography of Manhattan, Kansas and that of Bordeaux, France. The Flint Hills offer the perfect setting to produce the grapes that we turn into the wine that guests have enjoyed for the last ten years.
One of the most important things that hasn’t changed over the years is our dedication to having fun! We always strive to carry a sense of joy in everything we do, from our popular Comedy Nights in the Event Center to our series of concerts in the Amphitheater. We believe that creating spaces and events for the community to sit back and relax and enjoy an evening or afternoon spent with loved ones is one of the most important things we can do.

10 Year Celebration
Every year in July we celebrate the winery’s anniversary, but this year, 2026, it’s an extra special one. We have an entire day of events and activities planned, starting with complimentary winery tours, followed by a wine and small plates pairing experience in the Barrel Room, then a blast from the past 'Library' tasting experience in the Barrel Room, and ending the evening with a free live jazz performance by Flint Hills Band.
In honor of our ten years, we’ve designed the ‘Library’ tasting experience to allow guests to taste a piece of Liquid Art history. We’ll be offering guests a guided tasting of four select library wines and past favorites, featuring rare and limited wines that have been cellared from sold-out releases that are no longer produced. Guests will have the unique opportunity to hear about some of the final remaining bottles of rare Liquid Art vintages. Find more details about this year's Anniversary Party and all of our other upcoming events at the link below.

As we celebrate ten years of the winery, we are also looking forward to the next ten years. We’re excited to see where the next years take us and to see guests enjoying the fruits of the winery's progress. Thank you for the memories, the laughs, and most of all, the support over the years, and here’s to many more!
