The Story Behind the Amphitheater

Welcome to our twentieth blog post! This one feels like a special one, because we’re sharing the story behind our amphitheater, how it came to life, and why gathering people for local events has become such a meaningful part of Liquid Art Winery.

Some spaces just feel like they were meant to become something more.
For us, the amphitheater at Liquid Art Winery & Estate is one of those places. If you have been out to the property before, you know the view is part of the experience. The vineyard rows, the Flint Hills, the open sky, and that peaceful feeling that hits when you finally get a minute to slow down. The amphitheater was created to take all of that and give people a place to gather right in the middle of it.
Today, it is one of our favorite spots on the estate. It is where wedding ceremonies feel tucked into the landscape, where music carries through the hill, and where a simple evening out can turn into something you actually remember. But it did not start as a fully built-out concert space. It started as an idea.
Back in 2021, David, one of our owners, had a vision for what this area could become. The property already had so much natural beauty, and the goal was never to cover that up or make the space feel overdone. The goal was to work with the land.
He imagined a larger outdoor area with tiered grassy spaces, vineyard rows nearby, and a view across to the next vineyard knoll. A place that could host weddings, live music, community gatherings, and those easy evenings where people could settle in with a bottle of wine, a few friends, and no reason to rush home. That idea slowly became the amphitheater as we know it today.
One of the best things about the space is that it feels like it belongs where it is. The tiers follow the natural slope of the hill, creating plenty of places to sit, spread out, and still have a good view of what is happening below. You can be closer to the stage, farther back with a wider view, or somewhere in the middle with your group, and it still feels connected.
The hill also helps with the sound, like the Redrocks of the Flint Hills. Music seems to settle into the space in a way that feels natural, especially in the evening when the lights come on and the sun starts to drop behind the tasting room. That is when the whole area really comes alive.
People arrive with chairs over their shoulders, blankets tucked under their arms, and plans to make a night of it. Some stop for a bottle of wine first. Some grab cider. Some order pizza or charcuterie. Some get there early enough to wander the grounds, play a little bocce ball or cornhole, or claim one of the hammocks before the music starts. It is relaxed, but it still feels special. And that was always the point.
Live music is not new to Liquid Art. In the earlier years, it often happened in a much smaller way, with guests gathered in the tasting room, sipping wine and listening to local musicians in a cozy, close-up setting. Those nights had their own kind of charm: personal, easygoing, and full of that simple feeling of good wine, good music, and good company.
The amphitheater is really an extension of that same spirit, just with more room to breathe. Instead of music inside the tasting room, the backdrop is now the vineyard, the hills, and the open sky. More people can enjoy it, but it still keeps the easygoing atmosphere we have always loved.
In 2024, we were able to bring the vision to life in a bigger way by adding more patio tiers and making the space more comfortable and defined. It gave the amphitheater more structure while still keeping the natural feel of the hillside and with local stone, a representation of what lives below our own soil.
That is what made it ready for even more weddings, events, and now, a full concert series.
This year, we are excited to host an eight-concert series in the amphitheater, running from June through October. We like that the season stretches out a little. It is not a concert every single week all summer long. It gives you something to look forward to throughout the season: a reason to come back, plan a date night, or text the group chat and say, “Let’s go to the winery.”

The lineup brings in a mix of genres, from country to jazz and more, so each night has its own feel.
06.11 - Savanna Chestnut & the Field hands
06.25 - Kendall Eugene & The Midnight Line
07.16 - Pink Diva & the Jazz Masters
08.01 - Marc Baker & Untamed Country
08.29 - Vinyl Revival
09.11 - The Midland Band
09.26 - The Kyle Killgore Band
10.08 - The Steel Skarecrow Band
The music is the reason to come, but the whole evening is what makes it memorable. You can arrive early, grab a glass of wine or a growler of cider, order a couple of pizzas, share charcuterie, and ease into the evening instead of feeling like you are rushing straight to your seat.
The amphitheater has become a beautiful place for live music, but it is also part of the bigger Liquid Art experience. When people come out here, we want them to feel connected to the place itself: the vineyard, the wine, the cider, the views, the production space, the barrel room, and the people behind it all.
That is why we also offer vineyard and production tours. Those experiences let guests see more of what happens behind the scenes and understand how the land, the vines, and the winemaking process come together. It gives a deeper appreciation for what is in the glass and for the landscape surrounding it.
For anyone who wants to enjoy the full season, we created the ’26 Concert Series PASS.
The pass includes access to all eight concerts in the '26 Concert Series, admission for two guests, and two mini charcuterie snack cups at each concert. It offers $170 in savings and is available for $165.
Even if you miss a couple of concerts, it can still be a great deal. But more than the savings, the pass gives you something to look forward to throughout the season. It can become your standing date night, your girls’ night tradition, or your reason to keep coming back to the vineyard from June through October.
At the end of the day, the amphitheater was created because we wanted a place where people could gather beautifully. A place where a wedding ceremony could feel surrounded by the vineyard. A place where live music could feel open, scenic, and easy to enjoy. A place where guests could settle into the hillside and let the evening unfold. That is what this space has become.
And this year, with the '26 Concert Series, we get to share it in one of our favorite ways, so bring your lawn chairs, your picnic blankets, and your favorite people.
We will bring the wine, the cider, the music, and the view.
We cannot wait to see you in the amphitheater this season!
